The house rules

Privacy, plainly stated.

Effective: October 2, 2026

What stays in your browser

Quote Gist has no accounts, so there is no account database. Quotes you keep, lines you hang, your card-studio preferences, the AI tasting counter, and any Gemini key you paste are stored in your own browser's local storage — on your device only. Clearing site data removes them. We never see them.

What leaves your browser

When you use translation, suggestions, or on-demand explanations, your request goes to Google's services (directly with your own key, or via our Firebase setup) — that is how the answer comes back. Google's own policies apply to those calls. Nominations you email us live in our inbox like any email.

What we don't do

No first-party analytics, no advertising profiles, no selling data — there is nothing to sell. We run no trackers of our own; basic, anonymized server logs from our hosting provider may exist as with any website.

Your choices

Use the whole reading room without sharing anything. To erase everything local, clear this site's data in your browser. To ask about or delete an email you sent us (e.g. a nomination), write to shelf@quotegist.com .
